Presidents Report

8/25/2026

1. Computer class is ongoing.

2. Haywood Gleamers asked if we would take anything they had the opportunity to Gleam

this year. Agreed to take anything that is gleamed.

3. School building auditorium work is complete.

4. Grant update.

We applied for a grant that would help us fund game night with healthier food and help with transportation.

We did not get the grant to upgrade the kitchen.

We are working with another Grantee to fund the kitchen and have an onsite visit scheduled in September.

5. Adam Blanton has agreed to be the Facebook administrator. 6. Gym floors will be refinished from 11/16 to 12/4.

7. The second basketball backboard has been delivered and will be installed in the next two weeks.

8. We meet with Steve Hopkins of Sugar Hollow solar, and he is preparing a proposal.

9.A community member donated a new fish fryer.

9.A community donated ten gallons of blackberries. Jams and Jellies were canned using blackberries.

10. Multiple community members have donated canning jars.

11. We rented the old event room to Canine Detection Services.

12. A community member donated a projector and screen.

13. New signage installed at the Marquee including new tenants and address as required by Fire Marshall.

14. We took additional scrap metal from the building to the scrap yard.

15. We donated 142 QT od canned food items to Haywood pathways.

16. A community member cleaned the splits filters and installed insulation on the inside

of the Food pantry barn door.

17. Cafeteria double door restoration is almost complete on two sets of doors.

18. A community member donated hand tools and power tools for use at the community

center.

19. A board member attended the Rural food network meeting and the HCCDC meeting.

20. CPR Class to be offered by the Fire department for free. More info to come.

21. The HCM Food boxes are nearing completion. They had to order an antenna to connect to the wireless internet.

22. We have received a dock plate from MANNA.

23. Bonita Swanger donated a painting of the FCCC to the FCCC.

24. Work continues in the second breezeway bathroom, one bathroom has been completed.

25. The FCCA spoke and met with the Fire chief several times over the past two months. We are all working to mend the relationship and we discussed several potential joint ventures to include joint events and upgrading the water well. We will discuss the water situation later in the meeting.

26. We installed two water filters in the kitchen.

27. The lights in room #4 have been replaced and the room is available for rent.

28. We are using some of the leftover Cannery Electrical grant funds to install an additional two ceiling fans in the Gym and a generator cutoff switch.

29. We received a $1,000 donation from a community member for signage on 209 and a $2,000 donation from another community member designated to go to the breezeway doors.

30. A full-sized pool table has been donated, and we will take possession after the gym floors are complete.

31. We submitted water samples for testing to the Haywood County Health department. No issues reported.

32. The Hugh Rodgers reunion has been cancelled.

33. We received a donation of sports equipment from a community member, badminton etc.
