Blue Ridge National Heritage Area Grant

The FCCA applied for and received a grant from the Blue Ridge National Heritage Area that began on April 1, 2015 and will be completed no later than April 1, 2016. The grant was written to help fund the upgrade of the gym to provide an indoor, four season performance space. The new performance space will allow FCCA to expand our annual outdoor music event into a multiple performance series with additional heritage programs.

The goals of the project are:

The damping can be achieved through the strategic placement of acoustic baffles. The acoustic baffles will be built by FCCA volunteers. The baffles will be placed on walls and hung on steel cables attached to the purlins supporting the roof.

To address outdoor storm water management.

The interior of the gym will be painted during the acoustic upgrade project.

Dual handrails will be be added to the stairway at the back of the gym to provide additional, safer emergency egress for individuals.

Minor electrical upgrades will be accomplished concurrently with the acoustic damping.
